REYKJAVIK is the capital and the largest city in Iceland. It has population of around 120,000. The town was founded in 18th century. It is situated in the south east of Iceland. On the shortest day in winter there are only 4 hours of daylight; in summer, on the contrary, nights can be as bright as the days. Reykjavik became the capital in 1944 after which it gradually develops as the economical, financial and governmental centre of the country.
